If you are using
an Internet Service Provider (ISP) to connect to the library web site, you are
"off-campus" - also referred to as "remote access." To use the library databases you must
first authenticate to the
database. We use the PhilaU network username and password for authentication.
You must have a Philadelphia University network account for remote access
to Gutman Library electronic resources. Once authenticated to our network, your
ISP will behave as if it is part of our network, allowing you to access our
databases as if you were on campus.
INSTRUCTIONS: Go to the OIT
instruction page for the computer requirements and step-by-step instructions
for off-campus access. This page will tell you how to remove any existing set-up
you may have for remote access, and there are instructions (both Word document
and HTML page) for the procedure.
ANOTHER WAY TO ACCESS: If the above method doesn't work for you, you can use VPN. See Here for instructions.
TROUBLESHOOTING: If you have questions
about your network account or find that you are unable to access the library
databases from off campus after following the OIT instructions, visit the
Technology Help Desk on the 2nd floor of Search Hall; send an e-mail to HelpDesk@PhilaU.edu, or phone the Technology Help Desk, at: 215-951-4OIT (x4648).
