You're going to spend 1,800 hours in class!

That’s right, according to a recently published student success guide, you’ll spend 1,800 hours “listening to your professors’ lecture, leading discussions, or otherwise facilitating learning in the classroom.” If you spend so much time with folks shouldn’t you get to know them? Getting to know your advisors and faculty will likely result in a better experience, better grades, better recommendations, and access to more professional growth opportunities outside the classroom.
Many students choose Philadelphia University because of our small faculty to student ratio, but don’t take advantage of that by getting to know your faculty. It is recommended that you should talk personally to your faculty at the very least 6 times a semester, including; during the first two weeks of class, before your first assignment, before your first exam, at mid-term, before registration for next semester, and before finals.
Most students do not talk to their professors because they are intimidated. However, like you, most professors chose to teach here because of the low faculty to student ratio and our focus as a teaching institution, rather than a research institution.
